애창곡이 된 “My Way”란 노래는 원래 1967년 11월 프랑스 가수 Claude Francois의 자작곡 “Comme d’habitude”(As Usual/늘 그렇듯이)를 발표하였다고 한다. 이 노래를 캐나다 출신의 유명 가수 Paul Anka가 프랑스 남부에서 휴가를 보내던 중 우연히 듣고 이 곡이 마음에 들었는지 바로 파리로 날아가
사용계약을 맺었다고 한다. 영어 가사는 Paul Anka가 직접 썼지만, 프랑스어 원곡은 일상생활의 권태로 시들어가는 처량한 사랑에 관한 노래(Chanson)인 반면 “My Way”는 죽음을 눈앞에 둔 한 남자가 자신의 인생을 뒤돌아보며, 소신껏 살아온 자신의 인생에 아무 후회가 없다고 말하는 내용이다. 이후
